Kildress

This area features the unique Wellbrook Beetling Mill,
which is an 18th Century water - powered linen
mill kept in working order by the National Trust.
Beetling was the final process in linen making when
hammers (beetles) were used to put a sheen on the
finished cloth. There are enjoyable walks by the mill
race and along the Ballinderry River.
Nearby is Drum Manor Forest Park, which has an
arboretum and walled butterfly garden. Guided
tours are available as are camping and caravanning
  facilities.

  Kildress Community Projects

Kildress Community Projects was formed in October 1997 with the aim to increase
prosperity and employment opportunities in the Kildress area and to promote the
benefit of the inhabitants of the area without discrimination.
They produced a major cross-xxcommunity historical research publication in 2003, “Kildress, Rolling back the Brambles”.

The group has also developed a tourism river walk for the Dunamore area as a community xxproject.

Kildress Area Youth and Community Club

A group of local people came together in 1997 to form a voluntary committee to
support youth in the area. A youth club takes place each week in the local hall for
7-16 year olds. Members of the club take part in the annual Tyrone Community Games.
The group has started an Irish language class to promote culture in the area.
